壶穴是在河流上游经常出现的一种地理特征。雨水使河水流量增加，带动上游的石块向下游流动。当石块遇上河床上岩石凹处无法前进时，会被水流带动而打转。经历长时间后将障碍磨穿，形成一圆形孔洞，称为壶穴。 公园内壶穴众多，分布在河床基岩中，无特定的分布规律，具有随机性。公园的壶穴在百潭谷中最多，壶穴类型也最为丰富。黄满寨峡谷中水位下降时期亦可见小型壶穴出露。 Potholes are a common geographical feature in the upper reaches of rivers. The rain increases the flow of a river and carries rocks from upstream to downstream. When a rock hits a hole in the riverbed and can't move forward, it is driven around by the current. After a long period of time, the obstacle is worn through to form a circular hole, so it’s called a pothole. There are many potholes in the Geopark, which are randomly distributed in the bedrock of the riverbed with no specific distribution rule. The most potholes in the Geopark are in Baitan gorge, with the most abundant types of potholes. Small potholes can also be seen in Huangmanzhai gorge as water level drops.
