节理就是我们在岩石露头上所见到的裂缝，是最常见的一种地质构造现象。构成冠豸山丹霞地貌的岩石中发育了六个不同方向的节理，节理在岩石的层面上相互交叉，就像一个棋盘，故得名棋盘状节理。这些节理的存在导致了冠豸山沟壑纵横，石墙、石堡林立。 Joints are the cracks on the rock outcrop, which is the most common geological structure. There are six joints in different directions which cause the Danxia Landform of Guanzhaishan Mountain. The joints are intersected at the rock, like a chessboard, hence named the chessboard joint. The existence of these joints forms the horizontal and vertical ravines, the stone walls and the stone castles.
